The Feast

Restaurante La Catedral was the place were we enjoyed amazing Spanish dishes. We had a six course meal with an amazing assortment of delicious ingredients prepared to perfection. What was perfect was the opportunity that everybody took to share stories, laugh, and just enjoy each others company with some amazing food.

Classic Spanish dish: Tortilla Española. Don't think about the typical Mexican tortilla no. This is an egg based dish with potatoes and onions.
This dish was one of my favorite. We were served ostrich with potatoes and a cumin based sauce that complemented the tender meat perfectly.  I was very pleased to see that the students were not shying away from it and were instead enjoying it.

Grilled asparagus with a white creamy sauce which were a hit amongst our vegetarian crowd
Croquetas con jamón y queso. This dish is a basically a ball of jam and creamy cheese breaded. Its accompanied with some berry like sauce. The clash of the salty and the sweet flavors complemented the dish becoming also a popular dish.
Jamones Ibéricos y queso Manchego. The typical assortment of Spanish meats and manchego cheese. In this dish we had two types of chorizo (sausage like meets cut in circles) and the famous jamos serrano or serrano jam. On the other plate we ate well aged manchego cheese wich became on of Evans favorite (specially if the triangles were cut perfectly).
The calamari was Jaque´s favorite dish. This commonly found dish in the United States was also a hit amongst us.

We also had dessert but I was so excited about it that ate before taking a picture of it. Basically it was flan (a custard based dessert) accompanied with a banana and coconut sauce with chocolate sauce next to it. Boom!!! Deliciousness all around.

After that amazing meal we got on the metro and made it back to our hotel tired but with an empty stomac
